Keep your workshop and base moving with you
You can play ATMOSFAR solo, flying Wasps, gathering resources, deploying a portable camp and building, piloting and maintaining the Cloud Cruiser yourself. Use the Utility Wasp to carry your travelling workshop, then bring your aircraft and supplies aboard the Cloud Cruiser when you are ready to move your headquarters.
Plan your expeditions around a manageable job: gathering supplies, researching a find or bringing salvage home. Finish that job before adding another distant destination. Keeping the next flight practical makes it easier to handle exploration and base upkeep at your own pace.
Prepare for the work you will handle alone
Check personal power separately from aircraft readiness. Your backpack supplies power to you and your tools, while your Wasp needs fuel, maintenance and repairs. A flight-ready aircraft is only part of your preparation; leave yourself enough tool power to do something useful after landing.
Match the aircraft to the purpose of the trip. The Utility Wasp carries a deployable camp, while the Hauler Wasp retrieves heavy scrap with a reelable magnet and carries items and artifacts in its inventory. For a solo expedition, decide whether you need a workshop at the destination or a way to bring a large find home.
Set aside repair materials and consider cargo capacity before departure. Keep the supplies needed for the return separate in your planning from materials you hope to spend on expansion. If the trip depends on finding everything after arrival, shorten the plan until you have a more comfortable margin.
Run a solo expedition from departure to relocation
- Choose a clear purpose for the next outing. Decide whether you are collecting materials, investigating something worth researching or recovering heavy salvage. That choice gives you a reason to stop collecting and return, rather than stretching the expedition whenever something else catches your eye.
- Prepare the Wasp for the journey. Check its fuel and condition against the trip you intend to make, including the return. Wasps need maintenance and repairs as well as fuel, so resolve those needs before turning a small supply run into a longer expedition.
- Take the Utility Wasp when you need a workshop away from headquarters. The Camp Hub strapped to its back gives you access to a buildable camp for crafting, replenishing resources, cooking and resting. Having those facilities with the expedition lets you plan a useful service stop instead of treating every landing as a quick collection visit.
- Deploy the camp when you need its facilities. Land the Utility Wasp and set up camp to craft an item, cook food, rest or replenish resources. Use the stop to finish the work that brought you there, and check that the workshop and supplies you intend to take are ready to travel before departure.
- Use the Hauler Wasp for a heavy salvage recovery. Its reelable magnet retrieves large scrap, while its inventory carries items and artifacts. Treat recovery as a dedicated job so you can concentrate on bringing the find home rather than trying to extend the same outing into another exploration trip.
- Bring your Wasps and fuel supplies aboard the Cloud Cruiser before relocating headquarters. Build Wasp pads and fuel tanks to support that role. Moving the aircraft and supplies with the base keeps your expedition equipment together instead of leaving your next departure dependent on a distant workshop.
- Pilot the Cloud Cruiser yourself from the helm to move your base onward. You can operate the airship without a crew, including building and maintaining it. Choose a relocation that supports your next expedition, then get comfortable with the new base position before heading out again.
Keep the Cloud Cruiser manageable without a crew
The Cloud Cruiser can serve as a mobile base for extracting scrap, generating fuel and power, growing plants and researching objects. That makes it useful beyond simply carrying you between islands. When playing alone, choose facilities around the work you actually need to do, so each addition has a clear purpose in the expedition.
Expand the Cruiser as your journeys demand more support. It is customizable and can gain new sections as you explore, but solo operation also brings planning and maintenance responsibilities. Add what solves your current problem, then learn how it fits into your routine before committing to another expansion.
Know when to interrupt the expedition
Take cover when night arrives or weather and winds become unfavorable. Tycos has dangerous flying conditions, including jet streams and rainstorms, so an ambitious destination is a poor reason to ignore a deteriorating journey. Make shelter part of your solo plan rather than waiting until the flight becomes difficult to manage.
If a task stalls, identify the shortage before extending your route. A personal power problem, aircraft maintenance need and lack of workshop supplies call for different decisions. Return to the part of your expedition that supports that job, and solve the immediate problem before gathering unrelated materials.
Plan resource collection around your own time
- Can the Utility Wasp collect resources automatically while I explore on foot?
- Use the Utility Wasp for transport and a powered camp, and plan resource gathering as a task you handle yourself. Use the Hauler Wasp's reelable magnet when you need to retrieve heavy scrap. Budget time for that collection before extending your expedition.
